MUSICAL ORGANIZATION PLANS

Will Go to Wallowa Lake Sunday for
Enjoyable Outing There. .

Saturday morning the Elgin Con
cert band will take the train for Jos
eph for an outing that cannot help
being a mighty pleasant 'one.-' They
ha ve made arrangements with : the
management ; of the . Wallowa Lake
Amusement company to give a con
cert at the head of the lake on Satur
day and Sunday, and are figuring on
a trip that will long be remembered.
The train gets to Joseph in the mid
dle of the afternoon, and the boys
after playing a piece or two in Jos
eph, will go straight to the lake. There
will be a dance there in the even
ing and .the next-day can be spent in
enjoying the sights of one of the most
beautiful sections of the -world., A
large number of Elgin people will ac
company the band. , The boys will
have time to get off the train and en
tertain the people along the line with
a tune or two.
The band is now in excellent shape
and the people at the lake and the res
idents of Joseph are fortunate in hav
ing a chance to hear this high grade
organization, v

Mr. and Mrs Trull, Mrs. Hackett
and Miss Blake went to La Grande in
Trull's new automobile last Wednes
day to the afternoon matinee. Mrs.
Trull can handle the machine with as
much ease and pleasure as she does
her picture machine.
U. F. Weiss, local justice of the
peace, left last Friday for Davis, Ills'.

him of the" death of his father. Mr.
Weiss will remain in Illionis until af
ter the estate has been settled and will
probably be absent for two months.

The home of John Meldrum, former

day night of last week and every

partment had a jolly good time at
Bader's hall last Friday night when
