Jackson pertain ing to the handling of fire blight, are appended herewith briefly told for the benefit of orchardmen: ' ' Fireblight is caused by bacteria or germs. . '-..' - . Fire blight attacks any member of apple family but not other plants. Fire blight does not attack "Balm", cherry or other trees, as some believe. FTre blight spreads by insects and by any, means that it can be actually carried. ; Fire blight does not spread by wind. Fire blight may be carried by birds for long distances. Fire blight is the same as "Pefcr blight." ' v , : I Fire blight spreads most rapidly at blossoming time. Fire blight spreads mostly in the bark. Fire blight kills fruit spurs and J twigs. - Fire blight may kill large branches J or even trees by spreading into branch- es or trunks from twigs.
