Roy C Avery formerly of La Grande, but whose home is in Salis bury, N. Y., wrote a letter a few days go from Roseville, Cal.j to the local lodge of Moose on a matter of lodge business and concluded by saying that J everything was lovely with him in California and that he was happy and tontent. The letter reached local of ficials of the lodge yesterday and last evening came a telegram from Ogden to the lodge saying Avery had been killed at Auburn, Cal., on the 5th. He was in the employ of the Southern Pa cific. ' So far as known there are no rela tions in this state, but the Moose lodge has notified relatives in Salisburg.
