In the second part of the chariott
Si horses set a new record for the Union

i ing as yesterday but at that was one
of the sensations of the day .

John Spain, erstwhile champion

successfully staying with a pitching
animal fresh from the range. Spain,
though handicapped b the loss of one
arm, is still one of the best riders in
the country.
Relay Reduced to 21 'Mites.
Bloom, riding for Spain, beat Her-
ford, riding for Conley, in a nip and
tuck five lap race winning merely by
a length. Spain forfeited the 12 mile
event but consented to run his horses
in the five lap race.
i Mile Dash Fast.
Clark, riding Sammy Mullen, owned
by Hi Peach of La Grande, won from
the field in a fast and close quarter in
the time of ;34-l-2. Plnnegar riding
nagged Hill for Fierce, taking sec
ond. and Turk on Billie Wallace, own
ed by John Spain, third. The La
Grande horse won that event the day
before. The last and best special on
the program was i rank Hogg sue
cessfully sticking to a real bucking
bull. Although the beast broke
through the gates out of sight of the
spectators, Hogg rode him until ,the
animal stopped his volcanic heaves,
