ial) Summerville is enjoying one of
the finest springs that is recorded in
the annals of1 the town. The roads
are in excellent condition the crops
as a general rule, are in and the
contented Summervillian farmer is
only waiting the action of Old Sol for,
the development of his banking ac

Klees & Son have closed their mill
until they may begin hauling logs
with a tractor. Owing to the soft
ness of the ground it will be some
time before they may be able to
haul out of the woods.
A. J. Colts fractured an ankle in
a runaway Thursday.
Mrs. Zweifel has returned from a
visit' in Riverside, California,' where
she spent the winter. R. D.Zweifer,
her son, and wife -accompanied her
home. R. D. Zweifel was 'formerly
in the hardvare business in Elgin,
where ho no'U. out and moved from
there to Riverside.
August Hug, .sheriff of Union
county, . was in Summerville Sun
day. ' He was called to . the bedisde
of his brother, Ben Hug, who has
been ill for some time, his condition
now is very serious.
E.; Fisher, who has suffered a
fractured hip since Christmas, when
he was injured in a runaway, is no
better, and his . condition is - very
serious. ,

John Niederer was in La Grande
on business Thursday of last week. ,
Elsie Vanderpool and Clefton
Wagner: were on the sick list of
last week. Miss Vanderpool 'is now
able to be about but as yet Mr. Wag
ner has not suff iciently . recovered to
leave the home spot.. ; : ;
Miss Lottie Neiderer, who has
been attending school in Elgin, has
returned to her home near Summer
ville. Miss Niederer will resume
her studies at E. H. S. again the
coming fall.
Miss Anne Niederer received a

Barney Hubers, an old Summerville
merchant passed away at his home
Sunday afternoon. '
' Mr. Hubers has been in the hard
ware business for the past 32 years
and his death was ar sad shock to
many. Since the death of his wife
in December, 1912, his health has
been fast failing. Mr. Hubers came
to Summerville in the early 80s and
has lived here ever since. He
leaves a brother, and other relatives
and a host of friends to morun his
death. ,
