grasses had covered the rich bed of

contractors in La Grande there is not
a single carpenter of any description
that is out of a job. Many new resi
dences in all parts of the city are
being built and many more are
awaiting their turn. Also there will
be over half a dpzen large business
and institutional buildings erected

to La Grande's already enormous
payroll pending final action. It is
certain that some of these will be

It is the great diversity of pro
ducts which Union county yields that

turb the peace and prosperity of this
section.
In some crops last year some trou
ble was experienced in marketing the
yield. This was not due to lack of
consumers; but to a very insure and
unscientific method of handling the
crops. The growers have investigat
ed all these conditions and it is
prophesied by experts everywhere
that that trouble will not be encoun
tered again the coming year. Any
how, if hard times could come, it
would be nice to live in a country
that grows so much that the world
can't eat it all. Panics are simply a
disease, and the American people
have had their minds s thoroly in
oculated in the past as to be immune
from future attacks. That is the dis

that of our eastern states; and that

dense as Oregon, it can readily be
inferred that Oregon property will
