Monday night And the sunshiue have
caused Ladd creek to be very high,
the banks having more than they are
capable of carrying. All the tribu
tary streams are overflowing ana
most of the farmers are flooded be
yond a Joke.
A crew of men are still at work
constructing the new railroad from
Lane Tree station io the sawmill, but
it will be some time yet before the
track Is finished. However, three
new oars have arrived and are being
unloaded ready for traffic as soon as
possible.
The other sawmill, known cs
Comb's saw mill on the foot race ias
resumed operation once again, after
a few weeks Idleness. The new log
chute which they recently costrutted
Is quite a help in getting the logs
down from the' timber to the mill.
They can be heard coining down the
chute a long distance and it Is in
deed quite a sight to witness.

Xegro Hurt Ry Train Is Dead. -
Baker, April 22. Monroe Hobson,
the negro injured Friday night y
O.-W. R. & N. west bound train No.
5, -died yesterday at the hospital,
after having his lower limb amputat
ed. He received bad cuts on his
head and arm amd an ugly hole in his
back from the injury.
It Is supposed that he fell asleep
on the truss rods, and fell off the
train near Enclna. He was brought
In by the helper ' and his wou'nds
were dressed, and it was thought at
the time he could not live.' He has
a brother living In Pasco. Washing
ton, who was notified yesterday and
win be in tonlgbt to look after the
remains.

debate question In the high school
won last night in a debate well pre
pared and well rendered. Mrs. O. E.
Sllverthom, Mrs. Dr. Underwood and
F. L. Meyers were Judges.
The winners were sophomores and
included Blanch Clark, Ellis William
son and Annetta Johnson. Class spirit
was noticeably prevalent and each
sieaker was cheered to the echo by
his particular following.
