Klrtley, another of La Grande's early pio neer residents and one of her promi nent citizens. The deceased was one nf those thoroughly generous men who never turned down a friend and never ' sought out little things over which to disagree.' His friends are many and be was entitled to every friendship for he treated everyone well. No man, who had undergone a long business career, had fewer enemies. In the first place, Mr, Bennett practices what he preaches. His brain Is a veritable machine which turns out novels, olnyi. short aiortea, observations on current events and much practical, homely philosophy as la contained in this par ticular book. Mr. Arnold's main point Is that mont of ug waste a lot of time and effort in h-il.ng people not worth hat- ; Ing, In kicking against things that are not worth our attention. In Glacier National Park over-shadowed everything in the New York Travel and Vacation Show, which was held in the Irand Central Palace March 2()th to 20th. Tho uniqueness of the Great Northern Ilailway's exhibit of Uncle Ham's new play-ground was a marvel to New York decorative artists.' The ten Blackfcet Indians, of course lent, much color to the Glacier National Park Exhibit. Besides the Indians the marvelous beauty pre sented by the scenic photographs and paintings made the Glacier Park booth easily the attraction of the Show. The Indians pitched their tepee in the middle of the Exhibit and the visitors to the show at all times of the day and nipht while the Show was open, thronged about the redr-kins. Tho attendance to the t-'how averaged ten thousand daily.
