The clerks of La Grande are anxious to raise money for a ball fund which you all
realize can't be done, without cash, the La GRANDE MILLING CO. says boys we're with you
here now, what we mean is this, no one gets the benefit only the boys. From April 10th to
May 1st we are going to allow the Club a large portion of this money back, so much per bar
rel on all they sell, they to do their own book keeping, so you see they will get a fair snake,
and the more you eat the more they sell, the more they get out of it. We don't care if their
per cent runs to $100 in the three weeks it runs, so while this is on make everything you eat
from this flour and eat plenty. This flour is all made in La Grande, sold at all grocers and
fully guaranteed, and the brands that benefit the boys are as follows: Blue Stem Patent, Royal
Patent, Jersey Cream, Snow White, Sea Foam, Cash Special, Our Seal. These brands all count
If you find a bad sack tell us, we want to see it. Now while all the Clubs in town don't sell

The Checker club is playing oft a
series ot most interesting games.
Two good contests have already tak
en place at the T. M. C. A; one Tues
day evening April 1, with Alicel and
one last Wednesday evening with the
Island City club. The Alicel-Imbler
team of Ave men will play here next
Tuesday evening -April 15.
Men's Meeting.
The meeting last Sunday afternoon
was well attended. The male chorus
sang a splendid ejection. Rev. R.
E. Close of the Baptist ..church gave
an address on "Sampson." It was
most inspiring. Next Sunday we are
to be favored with an address by
Prof. E. E. Arant of Island City. His
subject will be announced later.
Tennis.
Preliminary steps are being taken
leading to the organization of a Y. M.
C. A. tennis club. Any young men of
the city who are interested In such a
club should report at once to the
secretary of the Y. M. C. A. We
should get an early start this year
in order to pull off a good series of
games before the spring season is
over.
Scouts
The Scouts are lining up strong in
their tryout for a place on the pro
posed patrol to serve the Chautau
qua board during their next summer
assembly. Only the best will be se
lected and this means keen compet
ition for those desiring a place. The
Scouts are now meeting at the Y. M.
C. A. ' Friday night Mr. Fred J.
Holmes who has recently returned
from an extended trip which Includ
ed a visi at Washington D. C. will
tell the boys what he saw the Scouts
do in the Inaugural procession. This
talk while taitended directly for the
Scouts wHl be trown open to any
who may be Interested in this phase
of boy's work.
