Shortly after 2:30 in the afternoon of
Sunday, the Knights Templar of Pen
dleton, La Grande and Baker, about
150 In number, clad In their uniforms
and plumed hats, filed Into the audi
torium of the high school where al
ready many people had gathered for
the annual Eastern Oregon Knights
Templar Easter services, There they
l'etened to splendid Easter address
by Rev. S. L. Grlgsby of the local
Presbyterian cjiurch who was once
prelate of the grand commandery of
!he state of Kansas. Rev. Grlgsby's
sermon was a strong one. well worth
hearing and well worth reading.
Splendid music also marked the
services of the Knights, Mrs. Carl
Power, Mrs. J. 8. Landers, Mrs. J..
II. Dickson and Miss Edna Zimmer
man singing beautiful solos and the
male quartet. Messrs Akers, Maybcr
ry, Owen and Jordan, also sang a
number. ,
From the time they arrived in the
night.' the visiting Knights were roy
ally entertained by their local broth-
era. During the morning they were
taken to the Eastern Oregon blanch
through the buildings. At nvwn they
hopltal where they were shown
were guests at a luncheon In the Ma
sonic temple and in the even'ng they
sat down to the banquet boaid In tlie
Moose hall. Many of the wives of
Knights were present and were guests
of the wives of Pendeton members
of the order.
