Following the advance in the other coast markets, the leading creamer ies in Portland yesterday announced a lift of a cent and a half a pound In butter prices, effective at once, bul the rise had not hit La Grande this morning. This action, coming at a time when ordinarily the trend of the market Is downward, came as a sur prise to aoine, but Portland butter makers say that hv view of develop menu the past week or two In the coast markets' there was no other coursa for them to take.
