The closing of the prelude is now upon us. . For-years La Grande has been preparing for .this time. La Grande has never. had a boom, nor do we hope it ever will. Yet by its location, its people, and its climate its merits much ad vancement. The next few years will see a larger growth due to the natural laws of evolution than any artificial boosting could possibly produce. - With the opening of the Panama canal thousands of people are going to flock to this great Northwest. La Grande is preparing to capture her share of . these but is not going to wait for them. In the meantime we have the prom ise of new railroads, new enterprises, new institutions, new money and new people.
