A fhirrt of the week's receipts was contracted stuff from California and Vtah points, leaving an i.nmn lavout for the buyers and bulk of beef offerings were only fair to medium quality. Beef famine still acute with prime stock at a premium. t. .n oM steady at $8.00; cows $6.757.O0 and heifer 7.267.5; the veal market was atromg at $9.00 for choice light calves; bulls and stags frteldv. An "up and down" bog market In uenced by site of receipts. Demand for swine broadens toward tne wees end. Monday's run of 2742 head broke all former records for alngle day and lowered prices a dime. Reaction set In after Tuesday and top grade were selling freely at 7.507.75 on Thursday. Sheep house business was limited only by size of receipts. Mutton val ues had a strong upward tendency as the week advanced. Prime wethers old 16.2506.60 and ewes $5.50, .a quarter over former prices.
