country Monday, February 3, in the
person of Nathtrall Luccock, D. D.
LL. D., Bishop of the Methodist'
church, who will then arrive In La
(Grande and will spend the entire day
In' the city. '
Bishop Luccock .Is one of the, few
men In the history of the church who
has been raised to the rank of bishop)
from a pastorate. He is a remarka
ble platform-lecturer. He will lec
ture here the evening of his visit. Ba
ker entertains him next Monday.

Bremerton, Wash., Is the seat of s
bitter conflict over the question of
street improvements. ,
The courts may be asked to inves
tigate the claim that a faction of the
city council has permitted the con-
trator to use Inferior material.
Speaking of the conflict, one Brem
erton paper . comments editorially:
