B. Hampton of New York and James Helm of Michigan. While the execu tive committee, the "regualr author ity" was meeting In one hotel, a cau cus of Insurgent delegates under the name, Conference of Progressive States, held a session in another ho tel, presided over by State Master W. T. Creasey of Pennsylvania. The con ference in making a determined cam paign to secure ' the revocation of a rule adopted at the Colu minis con vention last year, empowering the national grange to expel members for.u subordinate granges. The first victory for the insurgents came in the unanimous adoplton of a resolution congratulating states that have granted suffrage to women. ' National Master Oliver Wilson of Illinois reported that In a little more than a year $18,000 had been devoted to extension of grange. "The use of this fund", said Mr. Wilson, "has ac cbmnllshed more this year than In any year since 1S76. One new state, onMtana, .has been organized, and Wyoming Is about ready to follow..
