The La Grande Investment com pany, composed of J. K. Wright and W. B. Sargent, has long been one of La Grande's substantial business con cerns. In bar vesting the potato crop long rows of sacks filled with spuds were to be seen and In hauling off the potatoe many teams were used. The average yield in potatoes this year was 125 sacks to the acre. - , The Wenaha company is putting their holdings on the market in small tracss with ready sale. It Is hardly believable that land planted to Winter Banana apples can be bought for the staple prevailing price In the district, but like all of the otber com panies, the Wenaha folks have kept the faith and refused to , raise the prices on tbelr land. Hlbberd and Thronson also have a splendid tract set to apple trees now three years old. This is considered one of the best holdings in the valley although not the largest by any means. One man who acquired the "pear habit" was Dr. Lilly of Cove.
