Owing to the fact that the Synod of Portland, which is at present in sess ion at Wallowa, passes through La Grande on Its adjournment next Mon day, and Is delayed here for several hours, a platform meeting has been ar ranged for Monday evening, Oct. 14th at the First Presbyterian church at 7:30 o'clock. This will be an oppor tunity to hear some of the strongest men of the state In the discussion of great religious questions, touching the highest interests of the church. Rev. Henry Marcotte, pastor of the West minister Presbyterian church of Port land, will speak on Sunday school work. Dr. Robert McLean, ot the Presbyterian church of Grants Pass will speak on Home Missions, and Dr. John H. Boyd of Portland First church, will speak on Foreign Missions.
