Miller discussed McMauigal's cam paign in New England and charged that Frank Higglns and Michigan Young accompanied McManlgal to Springfield where the new municipal tower was dynamited in April, 1911. He asserted that Higglns boasted the explosion cost Boston $300. Iowa Eqnal Soffrage Meet Des Moines, la., Oct 8: At a con ference of the Iowa Equal Suffrage assocatlon here today preliminary steps were taken in what is intend ed to be the most active campaign that the women of the Hawkeye state have ever waged in an effort to secure the right of franchise. For the pres ent the women will devote their ef forts toward securing the election of those candidates for the legislature who have declared themselves favor able to the proposed suffrage amend ment to the state constitution. Bedford, Ind., Oct 8: The case of Mrs. Mand Ping, charged with the mur der of her husband several months ago. Is to be called for trial tomorrow. The case has attracted considerable attention and the trial la awaited with much Interest (Mrs. Ping is alleged to have shot and killed her husband James Ping, following a quarrel at the supper table. The woman then shot herself In at attempt at suicide, but recovered from her wounds and has since been confined in the county Jail awaiting trial. Wayne Mac- Veagh was on the stand at the open ing of the campaign contributions in vestigating committee hearing this morning. MacVeagh denied he told Judson C. Welllver, a reporter of Hampton's Magazine, that he was present when Roosevelt was to have demanded a second contribution from Morgan over the phone. Chauncey M. Depew, former senator from New York succeeded Wayne Mac Veagh on the stand. He said he con tributed 10,000 in 1904 In the O'Dell campaign for governor of New York. He could not remember if he contri buted to the fund Harriman alleged was raised for Roosevelt. He said af tf the cadpalgn Twombley assessed him $17,000 more. He said Roosevelt denied he had ever offered him the ambassadorship to France. "I have been a Joke all my life." he declared. Passports have been handed the Turkish charge d'affaires at Cettlnjo and London diplomats are -depressed.
