Nebraska Pioneer Reaches Centwry.
Bellevue, Neb., Aug. 15. Judge Jas,
Oow of tbls place will reach his on
hundredth birthday anniversary to
morrow. It is proposed to celebrate
the occasion with a big picnic which
will be attended by the many friends
of the centenarian, as well as his de
scendants, who Include six children,
25 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
Judge Cow was- born In
Schuylervllle, N. Y., Aug. 16, 1811,
and came to Iowa In 1854.' Later In
the same year he located In Bellevue.
For ten years be served .as county
judge of Sarpy county.
Another Allen On Trial.
Wythevllle, Va., Aug. 14. The case
ot Frlel Allen, one ot the gang of out
laws alleged to ha.ve committed the
Carroll County Courthouse murders at
HiMsvllle last March, was called for
trial today. The Indictment upon
which he is to be tried charges him
with the murder of Commonwealth's
attorney William H. Foster, one ot the
five persons killed In the court-room
tragedy. Frlel Allen Is the third of
the Allen clan to be tried for the mur
ders. Floyd Allen and his son, Claude
Allen, have been tried and convicted of
flrBt degree murder.
Ethel Barrymore will be seen In
new play by Henry Bernstein and pos
sibly In a new play by C. Kaddon
Chambers. -
