vides' the big scenes, all of which
were photographed at the great Bel

The story centers on Claire Uenolr,
a young girl, left an orphan, but com
mitted 'by her dying mother to the
care of a widowed aunt, who lived
with her son Louis, a workman in the
mines. Claire was welcomed to her
new home and her cousin was deeply
Impressed with her charms. A rival
soon springs up in Charles Macourt,
a miner and close friend ot Louis.
Jealousy springs up between the two
old frlenda and they become bitter
enemies, which later results In a
fight In the depths of the mine. In
the struggle, one of the miners' lamps
Is broken and a terrible explosion en
sues. The principals in this excellent fea
ture of 200 people Include Ceclle
Guyon, ot the Renaissance theatre,
Parte; M. Vlbert and M. label, of the
Post St. Martin's theatre, Paris, and
Charles Krause, of the Sarah Bern
hardt theatre, Paris, and makes one
