Ac Geo IT ADJOURNS AFTER FINE PROGRAM The sixteenth annual convention of the United Amateur Press Association came to a close On Saturday evening, July 6th, with the banquet at the Foley Grill. AU of the visiting dele gates and the members of the local affiliated organization, the Outlook Amateur Press club were present. Mr. Edward D. Jasper of La Grande, acted as Toastmaster, and quickly won the admiration of those present with his timely and witty remarks. The toasts were as follows: "To be or not to be," William Roy Gekeler; "Our prog ress," S. Parker Rowell; "Tomorrow, the fulfillment of today's hopes," An ihotyr F. Moltoret; "Influencing pub lic opinion," J. P. Roy ' Erford; and My opinion of It," Jesse L. Robert son. ' '" -) .: i Following the banquet, the conven tion held the final business session at the Foley Hotel, and adjourned sine die at midnight. The 1913 gathering wil be held at Belllngham, Wash. The various ses sions held during the past few d:iys were fraught with heated arguments and excitement that was a small edl tion of the Chicago and Baltimore af fairs of some weeks ago. On Friday afternoon the visiting delegates were I the guests of the local amateurs on a forty mile auto riae mrougn in Grande Ronde valley, stopping over at Hot Lake.
