AMc-datlng bis address wlit a re c;? of "organized labor in the early Isiory of Christianity, even before hrlst," Mr. Mitchell accentuated the tacts that what is generally termed by lilstorlans as slave wars In early Ro- fcuan history, was nothing more nor outhan strikes. Bringing his topic tPto date, he aserted that present labor conditions were the result of a foctory age when no man consumes as much as be produces and that as such It had to be treated in a manner dif ferent to historical warfare. Strike nights Upheld. 'The true ideals of labor will bt realized," said Mr. Mitchell, "when a'l members of all trades unions becou e aligned on one side against all the employers of labor on the other. When ever the right to strike Is surrendered, While Eczema, Acne, Tetter, Salt the skin, their source is far deeper than sresused by irritating humors, or uratio acid in the blood. Such Impurities 'inflame and irritate the delicate net-work of fibrous tissue which lies just beneath the surface of the outer skin, and the inflammatory discharge thus produced is forced out through the pores and glands, and is continually kept up while the blood remains infected. This exudation causes the form ation of scales and crusts so often seen in Eczema, and when they are scratched oft the flesh is left raw and more susceptible to other Infection. It can very readily be seen then that to produce a cure the circulation must be purified and cleansed. This S. S. S. will do. It goes down to the very bottom, removes all humors and impurities, neutralizes the excessive acids of the system and in this way removes the cause of disease. Local applica tions can only soothe the irritation and assist in keeping the skin clean; they never produce a cure because such treatment does not reach the blood. S.S S. restores to the thin, acrid blood all its lost properties, makes it pure and rich and enables it to nourish the skin and keep it soft, smooth and healthy. Book on Skin Diseases Who write. liH. Six fundamental principles make up the Ideals of trades unionism, and Mr. Mitchell took up each one briefly dis cussing It in the light of a studen; ot these conditions. Among these Issues are the right to strike and sho.ter hours of work. In bis discussion of the latter subject be ridiculed the ar gtments of many that shorter hiurs of labor failed to create a greater earning capacity ot the Individual. "A man that works eight hours per day has more time for recreation for mind and body and thereforo Is alc to produce greater results In a day of eight hours than he would In a Jay ot 12 hours when his body U lncHacl tated and his mentalities deadened. The great majority of the working a en do not spend more time in drunk enness and debauchery because he work less hours." Mr. Mitchell's address was well han dled and well received and men a-id women who have given none or Utile thought to the "insldes" ot labor came away with a better understanding of strikes, their purposes, and a general ly better aspect of the labor situation and labor conditions.
