STORM HINDERS AUTO TRIP
UNION HAD ENTEBTAINMENT
WAITING F,0B BOOSTEBS.
Plans for Chautauqua Progress Very
Satisfactorily Thug Far.
The rain and wind of last evening
prevented the 12 autos starting on the
chautauqua advertising trip to Cove
and Union and it was unfortunate be
cause the Union people bad planned a
big reception for them.
Chautauqua plana are being pushed
to the limit and everything points to
the success and pleasure of the best
chautauqua ever held, a very pleasing
little incident happened to the Chicago
Operatic company , that opens the
chautauqua June 29 in one of their re
cent engagements. Edgar Nelson, the
pianist, went over to the opera house
where the program was to be given, to
look at the piano. He found one that
was a question mark as to the date
of its manufacture, and In striking
the keys was sure the tuning had
been neglected for years. The Jani
tor happened to be in and so turning
to him. Nelson said in rather a sar
castic way, "This is quite a piano you
have here."
The old fellow answered:
"Well, by Jocks, it ought to be. We

La Grande People Are Shown 'the Way
Out.
Kidney diseases are very dangerous.
They come on silently, gain ground
rapidly and cause thousands of deaht
rapidly and cause thousands of deaths
that could have been prevented by
proper treatment in the beginning.
Nature gives early warnings of kid
ney disease backache', twinges of
pain when stooping or lifting, head
aches and urinary disorders. If these
grave danger of or fatal
symptoms are unheeded, there Is
Brlght's disease. Doan'g Kidney Pills
have earned a reputation for their ef
fectiveness in kidney troubles, and
are known and recommended the
world over. La Grande readers,
should find convincing proof in tnt
following statement. It's from a citi
zen of this locality.
John Torengo, Cracker St., Sumpter
Ore., says: "LaBt spring my kidneys
were disordered and I began to suffer
from backache. I noticed that the
kidney secretions were highly colored
and painful In passage and I thus
knew that my kidneys were at fault.
The use of one box of Doan's Kidney
Pills toned up my kidneys and canned
the backache to cease. I am grateful
to Poan's Kidney Pills for what they
did for me."
