The annual meeting of the stock holders of the Eastern Oregon Tele phone association took place at Blum, enatetns opera house in this city on Saturday last. 56 out of 122 shares of stock being represented. The flrBt business of importance was the election ot a board of direc tors, the following named gentlemen belne chosen to conduct the business H. A. Hug and Thomas rleming or Elsrin: W. J. Case or Aiiuei ana a. O. Zeek of Union. The report of the secretary showed that the cost valuation of the property of the corporation is $854.84, against which there Is an indebtedness of $3, 995.84. Of the indebtedness $2,600 is covered by the note of the directors, bearing Interest at eight per cent and $1,395.84 Is current accounts, about $1,000 of the amount being due to sup ply bouses. The current expense per month for labor Is about $200 and the receipts $74.50, showing a loss monthly, on the present basis, of about $125. The present secretary, Mr. Crum, has been receivinz $40 per month, and if this can be cut down to $20 it will leave the monthly loss only about $10o, to which must be added the charge for deterioration of the line and Interest on the latter $2,000, amounting to $208 annually. It will be up to the new directors to solve this problem of profit and loss as the stockholders, by an almost unanimous vote, refused to consider the matter of raising the monthly toll, which is now only fllty cenw. and voted enthusiastically to extend the line all over Union county just as rapidly as possible. As they are all successful farmers and busl ness men we have no doubt some plan will be adonted by which this Hudable purpose will be accomplished. t $ MVRKET REPORT) Butter Fancy creamery, ." lb. roll; 2 lb. roll 60 cents.
