Emma Mary Kerns died May 14,
1912, at Alicel, Ore. She was born in
Iowa Nov. 20, 1861; crossed the plaint
In 1862 with her parents, Lewis and
Mary Randall by ox team and set
tled. on the foot hills lu Walla Walla
valley.. In 1880 she was married to
A. S. Turner of Richmond, Va., at
Walla Walla, where they made their
home until the. spring of 1886 when
they moved to Spokane, Mr. Turner
being drowned In the Spokane river
July 15, 1886. In October, 1888, she
was married to Melvln Kerns In Wal
la Walla, afterwards moving to the
Grande Ronde valley, July 10, 1892,
where she has made her home since.
She leaves three sisters, Mrs. J. B.
Keeney, Mrs. Wiley Shelton and Mrs.
J. N. Boyd of Walla Walla, and four
brothers, John, William, Edward and
George Randall. " And she was 'the
mother of nine children, six of whom
are living; Ross Turner and Melvln
Kerns of Pine Valley, Lloyd Kerns of
Medford, Ore., Ethel, Mabel and Helen
Kerns who are with, their father, Mel
vln Kerns at their home, Alice!, Ore.
Lewis Turner, Maude and Baby Kerns
who are laid to rest,
