One of the prettiest and truest-lo-nature
stage pictures ever created In
the cotton picking Bceue In the ever
popular production of Stetson's "Un
cle Tom's Cabin" which Is to be seen
at the Steward tonight. It Is a fac
simile of an ideal home on the Red
river, the setting having been con
structed and painted from actual pho
tographs, secured by Manager Leon
Washburn. . Mr. Washburn Is most
exacting, even In the most minor de
tails of a production. Where another
manager would be contented with pa
pier macho plants Manager Washburn
must have the real article. He en
gaged the services of a chemist who
finally produced a shellac by the use
of which the cotton plant may be pre
served ln Its natural state indefinitely.
The several hundred . plants used in
the Stetson production are exactly as
they were, when removed from a Lou
isiana plantation in the height' of the
cotton picking season. Words utter
ly fall ln even faintly depicting this
beautful picture. It must be seen to
