track and field team is home from the
annual classic test at Baker last Sat
urday. Perfectly satisfied with the
management and praising Archie
Hahn's administrative , abilities and
the meet as a whole, the locals have
only one1 regret at losing the meet,
and that Is that the point-winning
members of the local team were of
necessity required to enter ' several
events at the same time, cutting off
points, gome men were In four events
at one time.

La Grande made a clean sweep In
the pole vault, and many an event
was hotly contested. The-lfigh bur
dies were won by Millerlng after a
brilliant race between Fee of Pendlo
tun and M.llorlng, the latter finishing

point winner throughout the meet.

dividual points medal, though Baker

lerlng, Conkey and 'Roberts tied In the
polo vault, or rather failed to jump it
off, the two last named conceding the
event to .Millerlng. Given credit for
five points In tha. event, .Mlllering's
score would be 14 but he compromised
with the officials nt 12 points, who
tried to count the relay as Hi points
for Malone, the nearest competitor.
This was overruled and Millerlng was
given the medal.
