To day each trust magnate, each labor leader as well as every private citizen, should stop for one moment and think -what the martyred Lincoln would do -were be here today, ; Would he be a progressive,: a re publican, a democrat or a none-partisan. Read his career, dwell on his 'plain words of wisdom, enter into the -spirit of that great heart' which beat '-wtolly for the common- people,, ami then ask yourself: "What would Lin coln do in solving the problems be fore the nation?" ; . VI Do you Imagine he would endorse the hypocrisy of many present day statesmen and office seekers? Not hardly. Would he clap his-bends when a few of the narrow heads of Oregon delivered their present day speeches, No, for Abraham Lincoln loved slncer have been for the past 15 years under a Lincoln administration? Wo say no, for In that kindly yet determined face every . trust magnate would see - a gleam of light that meant "so 'far can you go and no farther," and the Bamo magnate of today would crouch under that honest face and beg for mercy without the necessity of court proce dure. But we have no Lincoln , . today. There never ; was but one : Lincoln: never but one man who- carried the sublime with the physical1; . never but one man whose sympathetic: heart beat could rule the nation without the mouth having to utter scarcely a word. t i a This country ..must go on and on with its hypocrisy,; with its two faced politicians, its' burning desire to grasp wealth and work out its own Balvti' tlon.
