It was one of those good time occasions which does one's soul good to attend nn pension that did not smack of commercialism, but on the other hantl carried with it the oldtlme hospitality the good cheer, the fellowship of this community in a way that forced a re alization on everyone that La Grande is and will continue to be the central city in a great country. Every word uttered at this ban quet carried with It the upbuilding spirit, and the intense desire to have the city and country co-operate was very pronounced. Several farmers of the Grande Ronde valley were present and they adde.d greatly to the Import ance of the gathering. Secretary Cool ldge firmly and loyally announced to every farmer of the Grande Ronde the wish of this city to meet the country In a cooperative way and extended to them the most cordial kind of a wel come to everything that La Grande lias or does. M. B. Donolnie, of the George Palm er Lumber company, advanced a good idea when he suggested that a meet ing similar to the one of last evening be held at least every three months.
