Ala. i Wallowa Postal Hank. Wallowa has been designated as a postal savings bank which will he es tablished Jauuary 7th, Thia will be the only one estubliuhed In the coun ty at this time. The department lo cated the bank here, we understand, as this point was the only town In the county having a pay roll of any con sequence. The pay rolls from the saw mills which are tributary to Wallowa run up in the $100,000 mark each year, and In establishing the new de pository It will have a tendency for the men In the woods to save mere of their earnings. The Christmas malls have hpen heavy through this office, and some thing like 2,000 parcels have been handled through the Wallowa office, which have all been delivered proiv.f -ly and only the regular force to do the extra work. Postmaster Tulley and his assistants have the compli ments of the season from the many patrons of the office for their efflc'jnt work. . The stamp sales on last Saturday were the largest of any day during the month, which amounted to $2S.00.
