History tells ua that ths Duha of 7cllington attributes the victory cf tha Allic3 at Waterloo to the closing cf the nuoraont Caciia catc hy Janes IlacDonnell and John Graham. It vras a small thing. But the results have been marvelous as we look back over the intervening years. Philip D. Armour knew the value of little things. They say ha packed everything but the last breath of a hog uti lizing the vaste in the manufacture of by-products' mad,e him . -wealthy. The small boy by stick ing his finger in the leak in the dam saved Holland from devastation. A few drops of, water on a stone make no .impression the! constant drip wears away the stone. The little point on the auger prepares the way for the large bored', hole. A single grain of corn produces from one to two perfect ears. And so the LITTLE DIXIE is a part cf a dollar. Dollars at interest produce dollars just ad surely as the seed sown on rich ground brings forth an abundant harvest. Then save the DIXIE. Watch iS grow. ' , v ;.;.'..'.:;. The snow that had fallen in the earlier part of November has disappeared in many places, and a rather disagreeable wind that prevailed a few days haB passea over, leaving the mercury ranging among tho 40 degrees fund conditions are quite pleasant , Charley Broadhurst, a pioneer home steader In the Rock Creek country' and living alone, took a fine young Ply mouth Rock to Mrs. Burnap with a re quest that it be served for a Thanks giving dinner, so a few neighbors were Invited In,' among, whom were H. F. 9pears, and his aged mother, and squash pie and doughnuts to give it a real New England coloring,' minus the cranberry sauce, were partaken of and a pleasant social repast was heart ily onjoyed. Although church bells were too far distant to be heard, a feel ing of true thankfulness was expres sed, that tho disastrous storms' visit ing the Sound cities and many other places had been spared us. The school board of district No. 32 met at the home of Wm. Burnap, Junior member of the body, for the purpose of examining and acting on the bids called for, to build a school house. The contract fell to H. F. Spears. The building is to be of logs 16x24 reet but covered with rubber roofing and to be completed by July 1, 1911. It is neither large nor magnificent but if it serves its purpose as well as the Little Red School House of poetic fame it will be & success and perhaps a foundation for greater knowledge In future years to its studious occupants and a reward to Its promoters. lust Few argams: -n 120 acres in the valley, 7 miles from La Grande, for only $5,000.00.
