Baker Voters Come to Rescue With Current Expense Yote This Week. The special school election held yes terday afternoon had an exciting fin lsh, a total of 470 votes being cast, re cords the Baker Herald. As soon as it was seen that both measures were likely to be defeated the friends the measures rallied to their support and managed to aave the vote to raise 141,000 for current expenses, but could not muster enough to carry the propo sition to raise $5000 for the purchase of a site for a new high school. ,i ' A feature of the voting was the in terest taken by the women of the city Many of the leading ladles of the city as soon as they were Informed ol the situation took down their tele phones and called up their friends and urged them to get out and vote To them Is largely duo the credit for saving the schools from being closed for lack of funds.
