The llth annual convention of the eastern division of the Oregon Bute Teachers' association Is now a matter of history, the meeting having prac tically closed at noon when those from Malheur went east and the special train left for Pendleton. The official end was this afternoon. At the open ing of the meeting this morning the assembly elected the officers for the nf cnnvnitlon and adopted resolu tions endorsing a state text book com. mission; their effort to raise the vo cation of teaching to the rank of a profession; their confidence in the qualification in the state superintend ent of school, L. Bi Alderman; their unswerving allegiance' to the higher in atltutlons in this state, their recog nition of the benefit of the successful methods of instruction; their appreci ation of the work of the officers and speakers of the institute; to the O.-W. R. & N. Co., for Its courtesy to the teachers of Baker county and city, to the Baker Comemrcial club, to the lo cal committees, to the ladles of 'the Episcopal and Christian churches, and to the citizens of Baker generally for their entertainment and co-operation. .' The speakers were exceptionally instructive in their lectures and in every way the conven tion was a success.
