F. Campbell of this city has been called upon to give official ad vice as to the best way of construct ing the bridges. Mr. Campbell 1m already put in three large bridges for Wallowa county and the work was so well done that the county court called upon him to put In seven more. One of these seven Is to go in at the head of Nine-mile canyon, providing a cut oft on the abandoned roadway to the town of Wallowa, where the road now leads In a circuitous route. Charged With Wife Assault ' Eugene Yeager, who is well known to the police authorities, was arrest ed laBt night by Chief of Police Riley and Officer Nelson on a charge i assault and battery committed on his wife in the Osterraoor hotel yester day afternoon,- relates the Baker Her ald. He was lodgd in the city jail and will be given a hearing before Police Magistrate sterns tomorrow mornin at 10 o'clock. He was held under a $50 bond, which bo far he has not been able to give. Yeager was in the limelight sev eral months ago when he was arrest ed on a charge of engaging in the white slave traffic and recently com pleted a sentence in th county Jail at Spokane.
