a large number of taxpayers who are

La Grande for the purpose of placing
their dispute before the county court.,!
In view of the fact that the commis

postponed the hearing until August 3,
the regular meeting date of the county
court. ' '
Some of the Imbler people want a
new high school and others want to

see fields that will range between 45

bygone years have oxAy been harvested
in spots, but the percentage of such
productions is much greater this year
than ever before. Therefore taking the

history of wheat growing In this coun

dispatch from Elgin to a Portland pa
per: :'.'; ' . .
"Within a very few days Union coun
ty will be In the midst of Its greatest
harvest. A careful examination of th?
fields in all sections of the county
gives indications that the yield will
approximate 500,000 to 2,000.000 bush
els from an acreage slightly less tha-i ,
that commonly sowed In small grains.
That this year's crop of wheat in
Vnion tounty promises a yield of vir
tually 50 per cent moin than that of
a year ago Is due to two conditions:'
first, the greater acreage, and second,
the excellent growing weather and
amount of rainfall through the season.
