It Is the plan of the commute, if Miss Tracy is finally employed, to give a course of Instruction each day with practical demonstrations by Miss Tracy. To these classes all women and children and men, too, can be taught the essential strokes, beginn ing with the simple strokes and con tinuing through a course of Instruc tions that will give the beginners suf ficient knowledge of the art to perfect it by practice. There are so many ladles in La Grande anxious to Join such a class that there seems little question but that the department will be one of in tense interest during Chautauqua week. ' Segro Woman In Jail 1 . A negro woman was placed in Jail last night for being drunk. In lieu of funds to pay her fine, she was hell in the city Jail today and tonight will be. shown the derlceitn of Walla Wal la and told to move on. Fined for Fighting. Frank Shaw and "Tom" Thompson, two well known colored gentlemen of the city were fined $10 each la police court today by Judge Humphreys for participating in a fight. .
