Phone, Main 8 Passing of fanfwlds Club Hons. Saratoga, N. Y., June 15: In ac cordance with the terms of its re cent purchase the village of Saratoga Springs today took possession of Richard A. Canfleld's famous r club house, where in days gone by fortunes were wont to change hands on the turn of a card: When Saratoga was a "wide open" town the Canfleld Canfleld house was known as the greatest gambling palace In America and also the most magnificent. Can field bought the property for $500,000 and spent an additional quarter of a million in furnishing' the house and beautifying the grounds. After the furnishings had been removed . the yillage obtained the property for 150,000 dollars. .
