It was up to Union :ellarlsu in
the Eastern Oregon league to hand
La Grande's pennant chasers their
first defeat' this year and 'the stock
show boosters did It to a brown turn
r yesterday afternoon at Union. After
one Inning of hits and old-time form
in base running. La Grande went up;
at the same time Bob Smith and his
.stalwarts settled down to as fine a
game of baseball as one wants to see.
The diametrically opposed condition
of things of course gave,-Union the
game, and that by a score of 13 to 2.
tit was a stinging defeat and marked
: the first aerial venture of the La
Grande team this year. Mclnnls was
at a loss to offer anything distasteful
to the erstwhile weak batters of the
Union team. They hit the La Grande

the council wjll levy a special assess
ment on all the-property affected and
benefitted by such improvement for
the purpose of paying for such im
provement. That the. estimated cost
of such Improvement Is the sum '. of
$14,780.00;; That the council will,1 on
the 7th day of June,' 1911, me it at the
council chamber at the hour of 8
o'clock p. m., to consider said estimat
ed coat, and the levy of said assess
ment, when a hearing will be' grafted
to any person feeling aggrieved by
such assessment. !
