Neubauer, Instructor in mathematics at the La Grande high school, has ben tendered the distinc tion of a chair at the university of Oregon summer school. His work while attending the Eugene institution was of such high efficiency that the management of the summer instruc tions, headed by Dr. H. D. Sheldon, has secured the services of Prof. Neubauer for the summer. Instructors ' from many states and the foremost instli tlona of learning In the country are among the list of lecturirs for this course, and Mr. Neubauer's appoint ment, is therefor all the more note worthy, for he is only recently out of the university himself. ; The Bummer school will begin on Monday, June 26, and will continue for six weeks. Emphasis will be placed on educational work, this being the chief purpose of the session. A special de partment of training for rural school supervisors Is entered in the ; course this- year for the first time. President J. H. June First Will Be Circus Bay In La Grande. , On the first day of June the great Sells-Floto circus will visit La Grande in the regular course of Its annual summer tour. Everyone conversant with the story of the world of amusements knows the history or the uphill fight that the western circus has had for sheer ex istence until it has become one of the most potent factors amongst magnifi cent American enterprises. This season, if we are to beir.ve the advance notices sent out by the press, the clrc'uB will come to us noticeably Increased both as to quality and quan tity. ; : . ' , Last season the Sells-Floto peopl instituted a campaign of popular prices reducing the rate of admission from 50 to 25 cents. In doing so, ft is asserted that they have for the first time in their history returned home with a balance on theVight side of the ledger. The same policy will prevail this year. Twenty-five cents Is their slogan. No more, no less, and for this nominal sum they declared themselves ready to furnish an entertainment costing approximately $3,000.00 a day to produce. Many of the features are novelties. The Sells-Floto show has always been noted for the magnificence of its en tourage. . They have promised to out do themselves this year and to that end are carrying 20 more cars than they have heretofore. The list of the attractions on their program will be given In these col umns at a later date.
