The can pa'nT state-wide prohibition in the state of Texas was opened h.re today with considerable enthusiasm at the prohibition state conventkm ' which met at the Cotton palace today. Prac tically every district of the state was represented by delegates and the fath ering attracted several thousand friends and sympathizers of the pro hibition movement from all parts of Tetas. This being San Jacinto day, the city was gaily decorated and great : throngs form the- neighboring rural districts swelled the crowds brought hereby the convention of prohibition ists. '. The program of the convention, which will long be remembered as one of the greatest gatherings of this kind in the southwesterngpart of the coun try, included addresses by many dis tinguished prohibition orators from this and other states.
