' W. P. MEDDERS, ... AGENT A committee of 15 was appointed at the close of the day's work to pre pare a working plan for the considera tion of the convention tomorrow morn ing.. , - The only opposition to the plan aro- , posed came from the pessimistic tone that prevailed through the talk of EL ,H. Shepherd, editor of Better Fruit published at Hood Riyer. Although the diecusslon lasted throughout the day and the speaker were numerous, Mr. Shepherd could not see the light as advanced by the more hopeful In the plan of creating a central distributive agency for the output He maintained that there was no way for an organi sationat least he had heard of no plan which would equalize the values between the app'ss produced in the various districts. Nearly 1,000 hogs are to be fed on the offal of the fire last fall at the Pierce spur when a warehouse with several thousand bushels of wheat and oats were burned. The fire was orig inated by a spark from a burning box car hauled along the branch line by an O. R. & N. engine and Walter M. Pierce commenced an action to col lect damages. He settled with the com pany for $15,000 and was allowed the grain damaged by the fire. Hoge thrive on the burned grain and Mr. Pierce is going -to make' use of It by raising hoge by the thousands. He haa had several hundred shipped in. from Ida ho points and with the last ahipment will have nearly a thousand hogs to turn loose on the grain. Thia will give an impetus to the hog raising business which haa already assumed large pro portions in this county. Six Buy Dog Taxes. The sale of 1911 dog taxes haa com menced and that Is about all.
