There are also about 125 cars of apples held in storage. Figuring the average car at 630 boxes md the boxes at $1.50 each, the re turns on apples alone in that , section were $950,000. '" One hundred and twenty, carloads of fruit was shipped last year from the Chelan valley, northwest of Spo kane. This Includes about 20 car loads of summer and fall fruits, the remainder being winter apples. This does not include seven cars of apples still in the hands of the growers nor the fruit which supplied the home demand. White Salmon valley district southeast of Spokane, another latge orchard development company has been organised with a capital of $200, O'.K). All of the stores of the main streets will be In gala' attire to greet not only people of the city, but thousands of residents of-, the Inland Empire who come to the city to shop. The object of the show Is to have all of the merchants put on the spring open ings simultaneously so , visitors can purchase all of their needs at the same time. Friendly rivalry will be rampant among the merchants to see who can put on .the best display.
