State Senator Claude C. McCulloch of Baker Is registered at the Sommer while looking after legal business in the city today. George E. Parish, a prominent young citizen of Joseph spent last night, here transacting business and returned this morning. Miss Relth, formerly of this city, but now living at Spokane, and Miss Margaret Newlln have gone to Port land for a few days' visit. Albert Wurzweiler, formerly a mer chant of Joseph, but now lecate'd at Portland, passed through the city this morning on his way to Joseph on a matter of business. MEETINGS COME TO CLOSE. Seven Weeks' Duration and Success ful in Every View Point The seven weeks of special meet ings at the Methodist church came to a .close last evening in a blaze of glory. The results are scarcely cap able of tabulation as to conversions, for people of several denominations professed conversion and will carry to their home churches the value they have received. There were possibly twenty-five all told, new and old. Mr. Elliott goes tomorrow to open work at Union. About fifty people, twenty of whom were B. M. A. members of this city, were guests at one of the most enter taining and ' interesting series of wrestling boutB , and gyranasf um "stunts" at the Hot Lake sanatorium gymnasium last night, when the. B. M. A. of this city met and pitted strength and skill against athletics at the sanatorium. While wrestling and sparring formed the backbone of the event, other athletic attractions were booked and executed with the result that two hours of good clean sport were enjoyed. The stellar number on the some what impromptu program was a mat go between Frits Lottes the promis ing youngster of the local club and oromlnent in aH branches of athletics and C. Tweedy, a massager at the sanatorium. Tweedy is an understudy of McMahon the clever grabbler, Lottes and Tweedy mixed it from the bti-t. ami the spectators saw as fine a t nccimen of wrostu- - - "sharks produce. Both of the mat men know all the holds and the best way to get out of trouble, with the re sult that the entire category of tricks and holds in the wrestling game except those barred by amateur rules were either attempted or executed. The same was true in subsequent bouts. Tweedy was the aggressor through out and had Lottes under him most ofj tne time, inflicting severe punishment that told in the end, and at the elapse of twenty-five minutes of clever work, Tweedy wormed a hammerlock on Lottes and it was all over. The bout ended with the one fall, and Lottes has been showered with congratula tions on his long stay against maturer age and better knowledge of the prac tical workings of the game, McMa hon was the third man on the mat. Tweedy la a clean scrapper. The other Important event was a three-fall go between Cecil Bolton of the B. M. A. and a man named Schroe der. It was more on the rough and tumble order and enthusiasm was at a high ipitch often. At the end of fourteen minutes. Bolton took the first fall on a full Nelson. Bolton had the same pry on.Schroeder repeatedly but lacked the strength to force Schroe der down. The next fall came after an even twenty minutes of fast grap pling, and unexpectedly too. Bolton was deadlocked In a full Nelson again and his end seemed enevltable; but he flopped himself out cleverly and with no" particular hold, pinned Schroeder's shoulders to the mat,The trick electrified the audience. The third fall went to Schroeder in Ave minutes on a full Nelson. Other events were: Three rounds of sparring between Rice and Sam Coon; four rounds between Peare and Rice. Peare, Rice and Bolton entertained with some clever tumbling, much Co the delight of the Hot Lake conting ent, who appreciated the fact that the local youngsters have.not been sup plied with gymnasium facilities other than their own making. Difficult feats on the trapeze by a Jap added to the attractions. Doctor Phy delivered a short speech on matters related to athletics and In various ways aided in entertaining the La Grande dele gation. Gratutious use of the baths later was highly appreciated. In every way the Junket was a huge success and the club is today greatly obliged to the Hot Lake management for the entertainment and incidentally the wiser by .having brushed against the men who are better skilled in the respective lines competed in.
