Good musk was furnish ed and the last dance was not An lshed until well Into the morning hours. The floor was crowded during the entire evening. The attendance was larger than any dance this win ter at the Elks auditorium and the event was In every way a grand suc cess.' - Decorations and special lighting ar rangements were especially deter. The. exterior of the hall was Illumin ated with colored trainmen's lant erns and 'an the Interior severaf hundreds similar lanterns cast their soft and mellow light on the dan cers. Red, white and blue, with oc casional sprinkling of green made the lighting effect exceptionally at tractive. F. Wilson in North Union Wednesday, December 28, 1910, at high noon, at which time, Mr. John Dobbin and Miss Rowena Wilson were married, and Mr. Henry Melvin Tully and Miss Gertrude Stoker were wedded also, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Touel. After the wedding a fine dinner was served. About thirty rela tives and frlendB of the contracting parties were present ') Mr. and, Mrs.,' Dobbin left for Port land for a short trip, after which they will eeturn to Union and will live In the old Dobbin home. Mr. ' and Mrs. Tulley left for the Wallowa country where they will makei their home, living in the old home placeUnion Republican. mibb ijuiu Dawson entertained a few (favored, guests at her; home on Alder street last Wednesday evening. The entertainment of the evening de pended largely upon the ability of those present, along the lines of Art and Literature, which was the source of great amusement and hilarity. One of the principal features was an Art Collection of some thirty pictures which displayed to good advantage the sain and cleverness of the guests. Animated conversation and luncheon ended a most enjoyable evening. The invited guests were the Misses Ivy Long, Maude Clemments. Hattie McMunay, Bernice Stanchfleld, Marie Bolton, Josephine Higgens, Nina Tuckey, Pauline Newton, Ines Knowles, Olive Massee, Helen Curry, Mable Van Fleet, - Rose Sherman, Margaret Hanson, Edith - Anderson and Ruth Ghormley. The La Jaunesse club met Thurs day evening with Miss Etta Foley at her home on Fourth street and it was one of those ?'dreadfully Interesting" occassions, as Maude Adams would say. Eight young ladies were the guests of Miss Foley and during the evening topics of intense Importance to the feminine sex were discussed. While the suffrage was not entirely settled, it is believed since this meet ing that there is more light on the subject and a better chance for ad justment than ever before. Matters of local importance were not entered into owing to lack of time, but they will be considered later. At a proper time during the evening refreshments of German extraction were served and the club adjourned until its reg ular meeting. The Kaffee Klatch met on Friday evening for the first time in three wfeks. Mrs. A. V. Andrews and Mrs. E. E. Bragg entertained at the home of Mrs. Andrews, 1516 Adams avenue. Mrs. Oliver succeeded in winning the ladles' prize and Mr. F. L. Meyers captured the honors for the gentle men. . The former high school and col lege friends of Miss Naomi William son gave her a yery splendid surprise party on Tuesday evening. A very cn.'oyable social evening was spent tehearslng the scenes of their col lege and school life. . ... The Five Hundred Club was enter tained on Thursday afternoon and evening of this week at the home of Mrs. W. H. BohnonVsran. Mrs. H. C. Grsdy captured the prlite. After the regular afternoon's entertainment the husbands of the ladles arrived and partook of a delightful luncheon and o o o V o V 3 v O o O O . .fcrf a" enjoyed a very enjoyable evening. The function was one of the leading events of thatxclub during the past year. ' v Invitation are out announcing a party to be given -by Miss Ethel Wright this evening. This will likely be the leading social event for the young people during the holidays. Mr. Wayne Pickler of Portland will be the guest of honor. , The Lamba Phi Alpha met on Tuesday evening for a business meet ing. Two new members were initiat ed. The club rooms are taking on an attractive appearance this week. v. . The Omae Club met Tuesday after noon at the home of Miss Alice Hill. Miss Inez Knowles was initiated into this mysterious organization. The members seem to have great timea together although they refuse to say anyining about them to outsiders. The La Grande Lodge of Elks gave another of its popular dancing parties last Monday night Notwithstanding that the party was given but short notice and was out of the regular schedule, the attendance was large. ' A New Tear wake will be enloved tonight with Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Bay as host and hostess .when the La Jaunesse club will await the New Tear with their husbands as chaper ons. - V The Neighborhood club did not m! this week on account of tte holidays and the next meeting will be on Jan uary 9. The Decum Club did not hold its regular meeting this week on ac count of the holidays. The Lyle Tuesday Musical club will hold Its next meeting on next Tuesday arternoon. Ladd Canyon, Dec. 31 (Special) A large crowd of people assembled at the school house on the evening of Friday the 23rd, and, after the fol lowing program was rendered, many hearts were made happy by the beau uiul presents, which "Santa Claus" took off the tree.
