If he thought that prohibition i was of benefit to man there. is nothing that could Induce him to oppose it. for anyone who has followed Clarence Darrow'a record realizes of all men he is one of the most Independent. He knows not how to bend tbe knee, and no man to blm is so great that he should be worshipped. Tomorrow evening the prohibition forces will have Mr. DeKay of Los Angeles In the city and he will talk on the other side of the question. He la said, to be a strong orator and it will be the proper thing for everyone to hear what Mr. Darrow has to say this evening and what Dr. 'DeKay will say tomorrow night. BOWERMAN MISUNDERSTOOD. When Jay Bowerman made a short talk the laBt night at the Union coun ty exposition, at which time he fol lowed Oswald West, who Is also run ning for governor, Mr. Bowerman stated that he was instrumental In . getting the bill passed the senate and house to create the department of railroad commissioners. Cnmn- bell formally opened the twenty-fifth annual Texas fair this morning, the Inaugural ceremonies taking place in the handsome new coliseum. With Its many new struc tures and the unprecedented array of exhibits, the Texas Fair celebrates its twenty-fifth year as one of' the largest institutions of its kind in the country. Special features today were the ob servance of children's day and old fiddlers' day. The fiddlers held forth In the convention hall, playing old-time airs in a competlon for handsome prizes.
