Ladd Canyon, Oct. 5 (Special) ! Folding his tired hand over his peace ful heart John Graham has passed away to that beautiful land where suffering is never known. Mr. Graham was bora in Benton county. Missouri September 5, 1855 and died Sept. 30, 1910, aged 55 years. Mr. Graham was operated. upon at Hot Lake for gland cancer June 12. 1909, went to Eureka Springs Feb. 7, where he went to take treatment, but was not benefitted much, but returned to North Powder where he remained with relatives for gome time, and fin ally came to the Grande Ronde hospi tal In La Grande where he finally died after several months of Intense suf fering. He was married and resided here on his own farm at Ladd Canyon sev eral years previous to his death. He was an active member of the Baptist church. His body was shipped to North Powder where he was burled by the side of this mother, the final ser vices being conducted by Rev. Gibson of La Grande Sunday as was his request. i He leaven a hnst nt r1atl North Powder and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lucy Graham, who resides here. besides scres of friends, who will mourn his loss. Charles Allen Is here visiting friends and his Bister, Mrs. Thomas Sherwood. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Peebler attended the fair at Enterprise one day .last week and also visited their daughter, Mrs. Eula Daugherty near Wallowa. Drumsmlth and family have ,' moved to La Grande for the winter. Mrs. Drumsmlth ha3 been 111 with ty- ! phold fever ever since their removal, but Is getting along nicely now. i James McClure has his new barn completed. The school house has been reshtng led and the porch has been Inclosed,; making a much needed cloak room. The addition to James Mulholland's house Is nearlng completion. Frank Counsell will soon commence the erection of a new barn. Win. Banton has the addition to his house finished. Mrs. Lucy Shambaugh has recently given her house a now coat of paint.
