Day Will be Gives Over U Educating Farmers Who Attend- Union, Aug. 1 1. Special. August 2T is the date set for the Farmers Day at the Eastern Oregon Experi ment Station, Union, Oregon. The morning will be spent in looking over the experimental plats in. detail and the afternoon deoted to a program, in which some of Oregon's most promi nent men will take part. Those la charge of the work expect to make the day a banner one for the Eastern Oregon Farmer. There will be object lessons for the fruit grower, market gardener,, gain and livestock farmers. Among the 230 experimental plats are variety and production te&ta cut rural methods new hybrids, crop ro tations, and feeding experiments. The sixty-six plat of hybrid' barleys, which are the result of breeding ex periments carried on at the station for the past five years, ar interesting ex amples of what can be accomplished by the application of a little science and careful work. Here are hulless barleys showing countless variations. Barleys adapted to highlands and low lands; some for grain production, oth ers for hay.. Then again there are early maturing varieties, while others are late.
