GREAT IEAE FOB UXI05 COOTY This promises to be the best sea son in the history of this county, ac cording to men who have lived here a long time and watched everything with care. , There Is not a portion of the valley that Is not showing signs of great production and' the farmers have their crops well in hand. WhIU thm number nf fretffht ran required last year to carry the ton nage from this valley was very' large It looks as though more would be required this fall. AH around Union reports state that there has never been a brighter outlook, and up tow ard Elgin things look good.' ' At Sum merville all Is well, but Summerville Is never very far back In the proces sion when it comes to producing good things and lots of them. ; . The Grande Ronde valley Is all right She Is the banner valley of Oregon Including the Willamette and proof can be submitted to show it. With the railroad from Walla Wal la through this valley everything will , ibe complete. Wfien land gets so high that the large holdings will be surely cut up. This is the keynote of the valley's advancement. At present the land held In large, estate Is such excellent security that the owners do not see fit to part with any of their holdings, but when It gets too high to nise wheat upon then some will sell. '.'' ' When cherles grow as they do in this valley we can see no reason why this crop alone should not be adver tised heavily. George L. Cleaver Is a close observer of fruits and he brought In a twig from a cherry tree so heavily loaded with fruit that It would scarcely hold Its own weight. And the fruit was of first class qual ity. , - ' The entertainment at Hot Lake Sanatorium last night was a great Buccess, Just as everyone thought It would be. And" bear In mind that Hot Lake Is, located so close to 1a Grande that it practically a part of this community. Even Portland has not become large enough that the heated school direct or fights can be obliterated. There is something of fhe village In every town no matter how many people dwell therein.
