undoubtedly receive the hearty sup
port of the electors of the county,
and would be of great advantage, No
Individual town would-be benefitted ,
alone. Every place now in the coun
ty maintaining a high school would
be benefitted aside from the benefits
the county at large would receive by
the adoption o fthls system.

The glad news contained In the
Observer dispatches last evening to
the effect that the threatened strike
that has been ' pending hns been
averted, struck confidence all over
the land. Few realized, in fact no
country in general the gigantic strike
would have had. Business would
have been paralyzed; thousands upon
thousands of men would have been
suddenly thrown out of employment;
the railroad men would have been
mall in comparison with the whole:
Business will now pick up. This
cloud has been hovering over the
country for the past three or four
