That he found violations of the law in stated in hiH report whlrb is now in the hands of Sheriff Taylor, but that he did not find sufficient evi dence upon which to base prosecu tion is evldenl from the fact that no arrests or prosecutions have followed ts a result of his visit, relates the Pendleton E. 0. " The detective was hired from the Theil agency by Sheriff T. D. Tay lor on the approval of the county court. The bill for his services was presented to the county court at this session" and was allowed yesterday afternoon, being approximately S1C6 Though Commissioner Walker refus ed to sign the order authorlxlng the payment of the bill it is not believed there will be any protest made on the, payment of it ' It is said that the detective suc ceeded in purchasing whisky in at least one place in tne c.ty auu iw secured a beverage which he . declar ed looked like and tasted like real beer, though it also understood that the bulk of the drink emporium pro prietors of the city were aware of the presence of a detective. It seems the officer erred In not taking some one with him to corrobrate his tes timony. The train will include cars fully equipped for dem onstration work Agronomy, horti culture, dairy husbandry and poultry husbandry.
